Seattle Council candidate apologizes for DUI charges: Seattle City Council candidate Venus Vel’zquez was charged in Seattle Municipal Court for driving under the influence.
Police arrested Vel’zquez on Northwest Market Street in Ballard on suspicion of drunken driving.
A police report said Vel’zquez’s car was traveling 50 mph in a 30-mph zone and crossed the center line.
After pulling her over, an officer noticed signs of intoxication.
Vel’zquez said she had two drinks at a restaurant after a candidate forum.
